Seminary Attendance Policy
Each time a student misses seminary, a parent or guardian needs to excuse the absence unless it is school-excused. Please note that teachers or coaches may not submit their lists of school activity absences before the school sends us its daily absence report. If you receive a message stating that the absence was not excused, you may still excuse it. School-excused and parent-excused absences are treated the same on our end.
Even if you cleared an absence with the school, please notify the seminary to excuse the absence as well.
Students cannot have any unexcused absences and still receive credit for the trimester. Unexcused absences must either be excused by a parent or guardian or made up with the teacher.
Students are allowed 15 excused absences per trimester. This includes absences for school sports and activities. If students exceed 15 excused absences, they will need to make up the additional absences with their teacher.
Excusing Absences
Parents and guardians may excuse a student’s absence in any of the following ways:
1. Parents and students can view attendance records by visiting https://myseminary.churchofjesuschrist.org/dashboard. Parents can also excuse absences there.
2. We send a text message the following day when a student is marked absent. The message will include the date of the absence. Parents can excuse the absence by responding directly to the text message.
3. Parents can call the seminary at 435-257-3608.
4. Parents and guardians can email Sister Fuhriman at Katie.Fuhriman@churchofjesuschrist.org
